1935 2035

In May 1935 Maulana Ghulam Hussain Ayaz was sent to Singapore among the first batch of missionaries under the Tahrik-e-Jadid scheme. He arrived alone, with little more than the message he carried. In 2035 the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama‘at Singapore marks one hundred years since that beginning.

Tashakur means thanksgiving, and that is the spirit of the centenary: not a single celebration at the end of a decade, but a long countdown of service leading up to it.

A hundred of everything

A centenary committee has been formed to shape the programme. Among the goals proposed:

A lone stone pine standing in an open field

Goal 1 of 8

100trees

planted by members of every age

The Holy Prophetsa said that whenever a Muslim plants a tree and a person, a bird or an animal eats from it, it is counted as charity for the one who planted it.

Caring for the earth is part of faith. A hundred trees planted now will still be growing long after 2035, giving shade and shelter for generations.

Plans are still being developed. Details of each programme will be announced here as they are confirmed.
